CHWC operates three full-time Emergency Departments, Archbold, Bryan and in
Montpelier. These three units provide immediate and emergent care and
services for over 15,000 patient visits each year.
Emergency
Department Patient Care Goals
Our
goal is to meet the immediate needs of each patient. We strive
to assess, diagnose and treat the illness or injury that caused the
patient to seek our services. We want to provide thorough and
efficient care to every person in need who requests our help
Staffing
Our
Emergency Departments are staffed with Nursing Cardiopulmonary and Radiology
professionals who have been trained to work in this unique
environment. All other personnel work cooperatively to support
the emergency department staff so the full services of the hospital can be
directed to meet each patient's unique needs.
Physician
staffing is provided under contract. Emergency Department physicians
are specially trained to care for patients who have an immediate need for
diagnosis and intervention. In many cases, the Emergency Department
physician will confer with the patient's primary physician to make the
best possible decisions for treatment and possible admission to the
hospital.
Trauma
Services
Our
Emergency Department staff and physicians are well educated in injury
recognition and they are knowledgeable in the stabilization of
critically ill and injured patients. We work closely with
Williams and Fulton County EMS and the various trauma transport services
(helicopter and ground) to make sure that every injured patient
is treated at the optimum level of hospital care.
